Today the Hungarian Council of NSW / NSW Magyar Szövetség joined the community in a meaningful commemoration of the 1848/49 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence. On this day we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for Hungary’s freedom.
We thank the Hungarian community of Sydney for gathering together to remember this important chapter of our history. Special thanks go to the students and teachers of the Hungarian School Sydney for their moving and thoughtful performance.
We were honoured by the presence of Dr MĂłnika Varga, Consul (Head of Post), who delivered the commemorative speech. It was also a privilege to welcome Stephen Bali MP Mr Stephen Louis Bali, BBus, MComm MP and his wife Anne Bali.
Our sincere thanks also go to the Sydney Hungarian Scouts, whose participation reflected the strong spirit of tradition, service and community.
We also thank the South Hungarian Club (DMSZ), the Hungarian Reformed Church for the blessing, and everyone who contributed to making this commemoration possible.
Together we remember our heroes and carry forward the spirit of freedom and unity for future generations. đź‡đź‡ş
