Hungarian Radio Mozaik Sydney

Rádió Mozaik Sydney has been broadcasting a weekly two-hour Hungarian-language program since 1992 on the community radio station 2RRR 88.5FM.

The station was founded by Gusztáv Ilosvay and Katalin Ilosvay-Egyed.

Throughout the year, we provide live on-site broadcasts from Hungarian community events, including Mother’s Day celebrations, the St. Elizabeth Home feast day, and Hungarian festivals.

Our team varies in size and includes correspondents in Hungary, Slovakia (Felvidék), Vojvodina (Délvidék), Transylvania (Erdély), and the United States. We currently have 12 segment editors, and one of our long-term goals is mentoring and training the next generation of broadcasters.

Our Program

Our broadcast follows a magazine-style format.
We actively participate in local Hungarian community events and report on them regularly. Our representative attends the monthly NSW Hungarian Federation meetings and maintains close contact with all Hungarian organizations in the region.

We visit scout camps and Hungarian school camps, and we are present at national commemorations. We conduct interviews with visiting Hungarians — ranging from world-traveling cyclists to Hungarian astronauts.

Our program includes a news editor, a sports news editor, a spiritual reflection segment called “Útravaló” (Spiritual Guidance), launched during the COVID period.

We also report on diaspora-related initiatives, such as the Hungarian Diaspora Council, and maintain a strong working relationship with the staff of the Sydney Hungarian Consulate.

We are an active member of the World Network of Hungarians and maintain professional relationships with other Hungarian-language radio programs worldwide, including:

  • Független Torontói Rádió (Toronto)
  • Bocskai Rádió (Cleveland)
  • Vancouver Hungarian Broadcast
