The Order of Vitéz is one of the defining national and moral communities in Hungarian history. It was founded in 1920 by Vitéz Miklós Horthy of Nagybánya, Governor of Hungary. The Order was established in the period following the First World War, a decisive moment in the nation’s history, with the purpose of strengthening Hungarian national identity, faith, and unwavering loyalty to the homeland.

The mission of the Order of Vitéz is to serve the future of the nation while building upon the values of Hungary’s thousand-year-old history. For its members, the title of Vitéz is not merely an honor, but also a responsibility and a form of service, expressed both in times of war and peace through humility toward the homeland and commitment to the community.
Today, the Order continues to exist as a living community that preserves Hungarian traditions, strengthens national unity, and remains open to all Hungarians who respect their heritage and share a commitment to Hungarian identity, both within Hungary and beyond its borders.
